The jaguar belongs to the Panthera Genus, resembling panther in appearance, but much larger. Among all the big cats, it stands third in terms of size and strength. Its behavior is similar to that of tigers and is found across Mexico to Central America and from Paraguay to Argentina. Jaguar is primarily an inhabitant of thick rain forests, but can be spotted in open lands as well. The feline prefers the vicinity of water bodies. Jaguar is among the keystone predators that follow the stalk-and-ambush strategy. The feline has exceptionally strong jaws capable of delivering a fatal bite even across the skull of the prey. With a little care and diligence, it becomes interesting and easy to bring the magic of this majestic creature on the canvas.

Basic sketching: The first step in drawing is to create a coherent skeletal structure made of basic geometrical shapes. This helps in creating a proportionate complete body at the later stages. You can also use this step to scale up or scale down your drawing, while closely following the true-life formations. Employ free hand drawing, rather than exact shapes. Also, sketch lightly, such that the lines will be easier to erase later. Mark a small oval for the head portion and a large one for abdomen area. Preferably, divide the abdomen into two oval portions. Place the limbs and tail as single lines, keeping in mind their positions and bents.

Adding body: Once the base structure is ready, adding width to the body should be simpler. Like most real life drawings, start with the head region by refining the contours first. Head is the most detail-oriented part of the beast. The vertical symmetry, placement of eyes, and the position of the nose are the key determinants of the facial structure. If your animal is shown in action, it is likely that the teeth will be visible. Take care of the size and proportion of the jaw vis-à-vis the rest of the head. Similarly, add body to the limbs and eventually the tail portion.

Colors and shading. Jaguars usually have a mottled coat like that of a panther. However, almost 6% of the total, have a uniform black body. It is much easier to sketch or paint a black Jaguar than its spotted counterpart. Though, there is no particular pattern associated with the mottled variety the shading or coloring task is a meticulous one. Give allowance to the direction and effect of light, highlighting the rounded body shape.

Jaguar Cars is actually a British based subsidiary of the American Ford Motor Company that is quite famous for its production and manufacturing of luxury saloon and sports cars. It has both performance and luxury and occupies the markets for both. The British Prime Minister Tony Blaire is driven around in a bottle-green Jaguar XJ8. In the British television series Minder, the character Arthur Daley is seen to be driving a Jaguar XJ6. Inspector Morse in the British television series of the same name used a Jaguar Mark 2 to drive about his travails. Harold, of Harold and Maude, had a Jaguar E-Type hearse. The film 52 Pick-Up had featured a silver Jaguar E-type, and Austin Powers also drove the same type of vehicle, and calling it a "Shaguar". The 1968 movie Danger: Diabolik, Diabolik drove a black Jaguar E-type and his love interest, Eva, had used a white one. The Heist which is a made-for cable 1989 film had featured two dark green Jauar XJS couples. In the music scene, Sting drove a Jaguar for his music video for the song "Desert Rose", and due to this, the song had been used in past Jaguar commercials.

One of the newest Jaguars introduced to the market is the 2006 Jaguar S-type. It is a four-door luxury sports sedan that is capable of having five passengers. This car was styled by the late Geoff Lawson. In 2004, this had undergone a minor facelift that refined the car's overall appearance, and also received an aluminum hood.
